First work day on the farm! We met all the animals, learned how to take care of them every day (twice a day!), and learned some about the farm and how it came to be and the lovely folks we are staying with. There are 4 female goats, 1 male goat, 3 baby goats that belong to one of the ladies, 2 calves, 1 momma cow (to one of the calves), 3 guinea fowl, 6 pigs, like 60 chickens, and 2 brooding boxes of chicks. All of the animals are adorable! And we are working on all their names, we have most of them down, but a few are eluding me.

We took some time in the afternoon to bike and explore the area around the farm before our first farm workout! We did one of my home gym’s “at home WOD” workouts. It was killer, and my knees hated me, but hey, they’ll push through!

We fed and gave water to the animals, and cleaned out their pens, and got to hang out with them for an hour in the morning and an hour at night. We also got to help milk the goat and the cow. And damn is the milk delicious. As is the yogurt made from the cows milk :). We definitely should have taken pictures from breakfast today because it was the most delicious thing ever! Homemade yogurt with lemon and honey, homemade cinnamon rolls and cinnamon bread, homemade granola, homemade butter, homemade milk, and some fresh fruit. I was literally in heaven, holy shit so much good food made farm fresh from the animals! Lunch was scrounging, and dinner was again a delicious affair. Scalloped potatoes with farm made milk, butter, and cheese, and farm grown potatoes! And a delectable honey baked ham with raw honey from one of the neighboring farms. And a lemon pastry/tart/thing with blueberry topping for desert. So much for getting in shape while in Canada… But oh so worth it!

This place is amazing. The people, the animals, the atmosphere, it’s all just amazing and I can’t wait for the rest of these two weeks here, and the rest of our Canadian travels!
